Interview prep notes template

Get prepared for your first round interview for product management roles!

I am sharing here the template I typically use when preparing for first round interviews. At this stage in the process, recruiters want to see that you did your homework in order to get to know the company: this shows motivation and professionalism.

Every interview and every company are different, however there are some generic info that it is always good to have handy when preparing interviews, such as:

• The company mission and its values
• Any latest news about funding rounds, acquisitions, launches
• The main skills they are looking for
• What product/services they sell and how they work
• How the management team is structured

On top of that, you need to be prepared to discuss:

• Why you want to work at that company
• Why are you applying to that specific role

• What are your compensation package expectations

Eventually, you need to come prepared with several questions to ask interviewers. First round interviews are a great way for you to get a feeling of what the company culture is like, what are the ACTUAL ways of working, what are the main areas the company wants to invest in.
